The Spotlight Series is back! There are some great performers coming to share their music this year, plus a game of Putterball set up! The Spotlight Series is a showcase event that highlights the talent of Penn State students. This will take place at the HUB Monumental Steps on February 10 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Movin' On has five amazing acts coming out to share their music with everyone!
Joe Downs at 10:30 a.m.
Joe Downs is a freshman studying data science from Broomall. He loves performing and getting to share his original music. His favorite artists and inspirations are Billy Joel, Morgan Wallen, and Rex Orange County. The songs Downs writes have a similar vibe to those artists and their genres.
Overcommitted at 11 a.m.
Overcommitted is an acoustic duo consisting of Dominic DiFrancesco (vocals) and Max Dungan (guitar). DiFrancesco is from Philadelphia. His biggest musical inspirations are Taylor Swift, Phoebe Bridgers, and Laufey. Dungan is from Doylestown. His musical inspirations are Nick Drake and Elliott Smith. The duo aims to create quality acoustic covers of pop and alternative music while making an impact with just a guitar and a couple of voices.
Sunday Antiques at 11:45 a.m.
Sunday Antiques consists of two brothers, Harry and Xavier Hons from State College, as well as two longtime friends, Hunter Bowser and Mason Keeler from Bellefonte. Harry is the primary singer, songwriter, and rhythm guitar player and Xavier is the drummer. Bowser is the lead guitar player and Keeler is the bassist. Their music is an amalgamation of many different genres including 60s and 70s soul/funk, jazz, punk, and hip hop. All of this adds up to highly expressive vocals and introspective lyrics presented over exciting drumming and catchy guitar lines.
Rishi Garg at 12:15 p.m.
Rishi Garg is an international student from India who will play songs from a wide range of genres. He has been playing the guitar for eight years. The songs he chose for his performance will highlight his dynamic style of playing. For example, Garg plans to utilize the percussion guitar technique. He gets his inspiration from Mike Dawes, Marcin Partzalek, Tim Henson, and many other artists.
Kaleigh at 12:45 p.m.
Kaleigh is a 25-year-old pop and r&b singer, songwriter, and producer from State College. From the age of 12, her goal has always been to connect to people who can relate to her story through melodies, raw lyrics, and trap beats. She aspires to paint a vivid and “dream-like” picture in every song she creates. Kaleigh strives to be listed next to today's popular R&B artists such as Summer Walker, Jhené Aiko, and SZA.
