Movin' On 2023 Lineup

Penn State students gathered in the HUB on April 12 for the long-awaited release of the Movin’ On 2023 lineup. It was announced that JID will be headlining the festival this year with performances from COIN, Neon Trees, UPSAHL and Mellow Honey.

Mellow Honey won Battle 2023, securing themselves the opening spot of Movin’ On this year. Following the opener, UPSAHL, presented by SPA, will be taking the stage. Taylor Upsahl is a singer-songwriter from Arizona, who is known for her alternative and indie tracks. Her first album “Lady Jesus” was released in 2021. UPSAHL's most recognizable songs are “Shut Up” and “People I Don’t Like.” These upbeat songs will definitely set the tone for Movin’ On 2023.

Following UPSAHL, Neon Trees will perform. Neon Trees’ debut album was released in 2010 and features popular songs “Animal” and “Everybody Talks,” with both of these songs earning high spots in the Billboard Hot 100. In 2015, the band took a break, but came back in 2019 with “Used to Like.” Many of us grew up listening to some of their older songs, so their set is sure to be exciting and nostalgic.

As the sun begins to set over Happy Valley, COIN will take the stage. This pop rock band, from Nashville, Tennessee, has popular songs such as “Talk Too Much” and “Crash My Car.” In 2021, the band saw their first No. 1 spot on Billboard’s Adult Alternative Airplay chart for their single “Chapstick.” Ahead of the closing act of Movin’ On, COIN will provide festival goers with meaningful lyrics and catchy beats.

Finally, JID will close out the night as this year’s headliner. The Atlanta native broke into the rap scene following the release of his 2017 debut album “The Never Story.” You may know JID’s songs “Surround Sound” and “Dance Now.” JID, signed to Dreamville Records, has been nominated for numerous Grammys, including Best Rap Album and Best Rap Performance. Following the release of his 2022 album “The Forever Story,” JID toured North America. This closing performance will leave a lasting impact on everyone in attendance.

Heading into its 48th year, Movin’ On is one of the top five music festivals in the nation. As a send-off to the graduating class, Movin’ On invites all Penn State students to come out for a night of fun and great music. Movin On’ 2023 will take place at the IM Fields on April 28, 2023.
