Are you ready to celebrate the 50th anniversary?
No, I’m not talking about Movin’ On… Saturday Night Live is hitting it’s 50th anniversary this February!
Fans have been questioning who will be the musical guest, and who will be the host of this special live 3-hour-long event. Recent hosts of this 50th season have included stars like Paul Mescal, Ariana Grande, Chris Rock, Timothee Chalamet, Charlie XCX and so many more celebrities. SNL has been keeping it a well kept secret and has not disclosed if there will be one host or multiple.
NBC has said the event will feature stars of the past and the present. Fans are speculating who it could be and eyes always seem to land on Timothee Chalamet. But, after his unforgettable skits he took part in this past Saturday January 25th, it will be hard for him to outdo himself.
Playing the part of a bungee fitness instructor, Chalamet had viewers laughing forever about his take on these classes. Not only was he showing his fitness side, but he also let his musical side out while portraying Bob Dylan. Chalamet dressed the part by wearing sunglasses and a winter coat with a hood over his head and sung 3 back-to-back Bob Dylan songs, “Outlaw Blues,” “Three Angels,” and “Tomorrow Is a Long Time.” It was a moment that had fans buzzing on social media long after the show ended.
Chalamet is not the only star to perform “double duty”, former One Direction star, Harry Styles, was the host and musical guest of SNL in November 2019. He performed his new single at the time, “Watermelon Sugar” and “Lights Up” while managing the skits included in hosting. Styles has already lit up the stage 3 times in the past, both solo and as a member of One Direction. His most watched and most memorable sketch was his “Joan Song” sketch with Aidy Bryant, in which he played her dog “boyfriend” Doug. This sketch quickly became one of the shows most loved.
As the 50th anniversary special nears there is already a buzz about what iconic moments and people will make a return. Will we see some of SNL’s most beloved alumni back on stage? Will we see some legendary musical guests from the past? Fans are eagerly awaiting the announcement and the anticipation is building as everyone continues to speculate.
Speaking of anniversaries, Movin’ On is gearing up for a milestone of itself this year with the 50th annual music festival taking place this spring on the IM fields. Just like SNL, Movin' On has built a legacy of its own bringing together artists and fans for an unforgettable experience.
It's a big year for Movin’ On and SNL; you won’t want to miss it!
